Eco Home In A wonderful Setting
While we have previously mentioned this project before, we are delighted to confirm that construction is now complete. We first obtained Detailed Planning approval for this site was approved in 2018, and housebuild started early 2023.
The home which is built on a sloping site, it utilises what is sometimes termed a “daylight basement” style, incorporating a substantial retaining wall at the rear of the lower and having ‘standard’ construction of all the other lower walls. Therefore, the main entry is at the higher level directly into the upper floor. The home itself, built over two floors, has a split level on each so the home works with the site slope.
On the lower level are the second and third bedrooms; plant room and a large sitting/rec room which has access onto a large deck area. Bedroom 2 has a en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet, and there is also a separate shower-room off the lower hall. The upper floor has master bedroom; kitchen-dining; and access to the covered veranda overlooking the loch. Off the entrance hall is a storage cupboard and a general shower-room/toilet.
The home has a timber frame construction, and utilises a post-and-beam roof format, allowing the upper floor to have airy vaulted ceilings and exposed feature timber beams. The walls, clad in Western Red Cedar timber, achieve very high insulation standards with the whole property enjoying excellent air tightness standards, all of which leads to a very comfortable environment and low running costs.
The home also boasts a Mechanical Ventilation & Heat Recovery system; Solar water heating panels; Photovoltaic electric panels and a full battery back-up.
